What a beautiful day!  It is rare to get 70 degrees days in November around here.  The boys have taken full advantage and have been outside almost all day.  Sean is working on paiting the house and is just now coming in to watch some football.  I have been working on adoption paperwork most of the morning, but took a break and played some TracBall with the kids.  Just a gorgeous day and I am so thankful to God for the weather and for our light calendar today!!

Last Weekend Part 2

So Saturday night we had allowed Ethan to pick 6 boys to invite to his Buckeyes party. He chose Ethan C., Connor, Spencer, Mitchell, Dylan and Charlie. They are a bunch of good boys and I hope that they remain friends throughout their school days!! They came over for dinner, pizza of course. Luckily Eli got invited over to Owen’s house to play during the party. He was so excited about that!!

After dinner we let the kids play for awhile, but you can imagine how 7 boys play! It got out of hand pretty quickly. Luckily the OSU football game was on, so that kept some of them busy. Then Ethan opened his gifts and we had cake. At around 6:30 we headed out to the OSU men’s soccer game. It was a great time. The game and parking were FREE!!! The boys did a pretty good job of watching and staying interested in the game. We thought we would only stay for the first half, depending on the weather, but it happened to be a beautiful night. We also had the time wrong so when we got there we saw the last 5 minutes of the first period. So then we stayed through the end. OSU won, and the boys cheered and cheered. When we got home there was more craziness to be had! We popped in a Star Wars Clone Wars show and that helped the madness :)
Ethan had a great time, its so hard to believe that he is eight already. The time is sure flying by. I have been watching home videos and just can’t believe how quickly I forgot so many things already.
So, Sunday we went to church and then around 4pm the festivities began again at our house. We had Ethan’s family dinner here. It was nice because Sean’s mom was in town from Chicago and Sean’s grandma popped in for a little while. Sean’s brother and his family were also here to celebrate along with my folks. So, it is always nice to be together, but I was beat!! Luckily the kids do a good job of playing together and it was a school night so we didn’t stay up too late! I think Ethan has been well celebrated. We will have one more at Thanksgiving when my sisters are here!! I can’t believe that we are on our way to nine years old!!!!!
Here’s our pictures from part 2……..be ready, there’s a lot!!

Last Weekend Part 1

Okay, I think I have now fully recovered from last weekend, just in time for this weekend!! Wow, it was a doozey! I knew full well that is would be crazy busy and that it was. For the sake of not having an extremely long post I am going to break up the weekend into 2 posts.

Friday night started the madness. We had our monthly kids program at church, which I lead. It was a whole lot of fun and the energy in that places was contagious. We hit a record number on Friday night with 104 kids in attendance. God is really blessing that ministry and I feel so privileged to be a part of it!
Every month after Adventure Night I am just exhausted. The mental work-out I get from all of the planning and coordinating takes a huge toll on me! So I normally would take full advantage of sleeping in on Saturday, oh but not THIS Saturday. We had a family fun day at Ethan’s school. They were serving breakfast and then they had rooms upon rooms of games to play, things to jump in and crafts to make. It was fine, the kids had a blast. Most of the rooms had run out of prizes by the time we got there. That was terrible planning on someones part considering we probably got to most of the rooms about an hour into the 2 1/2 hour program. But that was just as well, I don’t need more junk in my house. I will have to say though, it did seem strange for the boys to play a game like “throw as many plastic hot dogs into the mouth of the huge wooden face” without some sort of prize. What’s the point? Oh, the reptile guy was there too and the boys both held a small alligator.
We had the perfect trick up our sleeves to convince the boys to head home when we were ready. We decided to let Ethan open up his gifts a day early. So as soon and Sean and I had had enough, we dangled that bribe and boy did it work, we were out of there.
The reason we wanted Ethan to open his gifts early was that we bought him a bike. It was going to be a beautiful day, so we wanted him to have a chance to ride it. He did great getting going on the 20″ bike, he did great staying going on the bike, but stopping was a whole other story. He would sort of just throw his body off when he was ready. He was starting to get very frustrated with that. He seriously just needs about 1-2 more inches to make stopping that much easier!
Here are some photos from our weekend, part 1!
